Best way to download TikTok stories in 2026?
-
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to find a reliable way to save stories before they disappear after 24 hours. I've tried a couple of browser extensions and online tools, but most either don't work anymore or ask for weird permissions that make me uncomfortable.
I mainly want to save stories from my own account and a few close friends who've given me permission, just for keeping personal memories. Does anyone know of a TikTok story downloader that's actually safe, doesn't require login credentials, and works consistently on both mobile and desktop?
Also curious if TikTok has added any official way to save stories now. Would appreciate any recommendations or warnings about tools to avoid.

A good rule is to avoid any tool that asks for your TikTok username/password, installs an unknown extension, or requests broad browser permissions. For your own stories, the safest option is to save the original video/photo locally before posting, or use TikTok’s built-in save/download options when available. If you’re considering a TikTok story downloader, stick to services that don’t require login credentials and avoid uploading anything private. For friends’ stories, make sure they’ve given permission and preferably have them send you the original file. Third-party tools can change or stop working, so I’d still check TikTok’s official options first.
