I already work online so nothing's really keeping me in one place, and I'm starting to think it's actually time to make that move. Any good spots where apartments are still reasonably priced and it's not a whole process to settle in as a US citizen?

Dubai's where I'd be looking right now, prices have come down and there's no better time to get in. Infrastructure's solid, you've got the sea, and the heat's not nearly as rough as people think since pretty much the whole city runs on air conditioning. Check out what apartments are listed here: https://atvir.com/uae/residential-complexes/apartments . There's probably something in there that fits your situation.

You can live there without a visa, you just gotta leave and come back every three months. And housing prices are pretty solid.
