I have been thinking about using that area more efficiently instead of adding another floor cabinet. While researching different ideas, I found Ace Garage Storage and started looking into overhead storage options.

One thing I am considering is above garage door storage. The area above the garage door seems ideal for storing items that are only needed occasionally. Has anyone installed storage in this particular location? I am wondering how much clearance is normally required for the garage door to operate properly.

I have also seen garage ceiling racks that use the ceiling area for boxes and equipment. Are these racks difficult to install if the garage has a standard residential ceiling? I would prefer something secure enough for heavier storage containers rather than a system intended only for lightweight items.

Another product category that interests me is retractable garage storage. Being able to lower the storage platform seems useful because it would make loading and unloading much easier. Does anyone find retractable systems more convenient than permanently fixed racks?

Has anyone here purchased anything from Ace Garage Storage? I would be interested in hearing about the quality, installation experience, and how well the storage system holds up with regular use.

For people who have already converted their garage ceiling into storage, what mistakes should someone avoid? Is it better to concentrate storage above the garage door, over the parking area, or in another part of the ceiling?

I am mainly looking for practical advice before deciding which setup would work best.
